Thomas Frank all but confirmed an impending transfer during his first press conference as Tottenham head coach. The Dane has seen three new signings completed since his arrival with Mathys Tel, Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus all joining on permanent deals.

The latter is the marquee coup with Spurs agreeing to pay West Ham United £55million across a number of instalments and its fair to say that Frank is very happy with the signing.

"I think it's a great signing from the club," he said on Friday afternoon. "Top work from Daniel [Levy], Vinai [Venkatesham] and Johan [Lange] in getting a very good player in early in the pre-season so we can start working with him.

"I think he gives us a bit of that unpredictability in the game. I think his one-on-one actions are top, I think his slide passes are top, I think his finishing is very good. He is almost the perfect age to perform but also to take the next level."

Discussions to acquire his services had been ongoing for a number of weeks after interest cooled in Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze with it also accepted that Bryan Mbeumo was focused on joining Manchester United.

Frank leaving Brentford for Spurs offered some hope that Mbeumo would be keen to seal a reunion. However, Old Trafford remained his favoured destination and though advanced talks continued, a full transfer agreement was only struck on Friday.

United are set to pay up to £70million with the Bees finally seeing their asking price met. Given his links to Frank, a question on the Cameroon international was asked during his maiden press conference at Hotspur Way with the Spurs boss seemingly making it clear he is sealing a summer switch.

"Bryan [Mbeumo], of course, is a fantastic player. I have been with him for five years," Frank told reporters on Friday.

"I think he deserves the move, no matter where he goes. And as a player, I wish him all the best when you've been with a player for so long."

With Mbeumo off to United, Tottenham are now targeting a different Premier League attacker in Morgan Gibbs-White. Their pursuit of him has been significantly derailed though, with Nottingham Forest believing an illegal approach was made that saw the confidential nature of his £60million release clause breached.

The 25-year-old has returned to Forest for pre-season and as the squad are set to fly out to Portugal for a pre-season camp on Monday, it is said that Gibbs-White wants his future resolved by then.

Frank was also asked about the England international during those media duties but he unsurprisingly opted against commenting.

"I will not speak about players who are not mine," he said. "I think I have two exceptions, and they are getting older, Ronaldo and Messi. The rest I will just speak about the players who are inside Tottenham."
