Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwinrevealed his Sydney Thunder jersey on social media platform X on Friday, September 26. His post comprised the cap being placed on top of the collar with his jersey number 99 and 'ASHWIN' (beneath the number) showing against a coal black backdrop.
However, the veteran off-spinner's post wasn't without a fun twist. He had purposely posted the fresh jersey on September 26 instead of the previous day, the day of his announcement by the franchise. The caption of the post was 'What colour today at Navratri? 😉', indirectly reminding his viewers of Day 5 of Navratri.

For the unversed, the annual festival is a nine-day event which is celebrated with great happiness for those celebrating. The green colour symbolises nature and new beginnings in life. It also evokes a sense of growth, serenity and peace.
Coming to Ashwin's signing with Sydney Thunder, he became the 17th player to be signed by the franchise with league rules limiting clubs to 18 players per squad. Sydney Thunder's general manager Trent Copeland hailed Ashwin's arrival to the Big Bash League by labelling him as the "biggest signing in the history of the BBL". There has been a lot of hype on social media in relation to the same.
Ashwin recently retired from the Indian Premier League in order to explore opportunities in various franchise leagues around the globe. The BBL comes as a refreshing challenge for him as well as his Indian supporters. Ashwin became the first Indian international to have been signed by any franchise of the BBL.
