As India gears up to celebrate Independence Day, OTT platforms are joining the patriotic fervour with a slate of new releases. While the big screens are set for massive box office clashes between War 2 and Coolie, Netflix has premiered a gripping espionage thriller titled Saare Jahan Se Accha. The series released on Wednesday, breaking Netflix’s usual Friday release pattern.
Saare Jahan Se Accha release date OUT
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the makers announced the news and wrote, "I spy @pratikg80, @hinduja_sunny
and Rajat Kapoor bringing the most intense drama of the year to you. Watch Saare Jahan Se Accha, out tomorrow, only on Netflix." The show has started streaming on Netflix from today (August 13).
Directed by Sumit Purohit and created by Gaurav Shukla, Saare Jahan Se Accha is a high-stakes spy thriller set in the politically charged era of the 1970s. The series follows a brilliant Indian spy sent on a dangerous mission to dismantle the nuclear ambitions of a neighbouring country. Along the way, the show dives deep into the inner struggles and sharp intellect of India’s early intelligence officers.
Pratik Gandhi, best known for his role in Scam 1992, returns to the screen in a new avatar. After his powerful performance in Phule, the actor takes on the role of a RAW operative. He plays a member of R&AW’s inaugural team.
The ensemble cast also includes Tillotama Shome, Sunny Hinduja, Anup Soni, Suhail Nayyar, Kritika Kamra, and Rajat Kapoor in key roles. Each character is carefully woven into the story.
More about Saare Jahan Se Accha
While Saare Jahan Se Accha is not a direct retelling of true events, the series is inspired by historical incidents, including the 1971 Indo-Pak war and the mysterious death of nuclear scientist Homi J. Bhabha. These references ground the series in real-world geopolitics.
Produced by Bombay Fables, the show combines slick production, compelling performances, and a powerful story rooted in patriotism. As one of the most anticipated OTT releases this week, Saare Jahan Se Accha is touted to be a gripping watch for audiences who love thrillers with a strong nationalistic core.
