If you're interested in visiting Jammu and Kashmir, there's good news for you. Following a security review, it has been decided to reopen several closed tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir from September 29th. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha himself announced this.

LG Manoj Sinha announced that major tourist spots in the Kashmir and Jammu divisions will reopen to tourists. These tourist spots were closed as a precautionary measure after the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Which sites will be opened?

The locations that will reopen in the Kashmir division include Aru Valley, rafting point Yannar, Akkad Park, Padshahi Park and Command Post, Dagan Top, Ramban, the Dhagar area of Kathua, and Shiv Cave (Salal) in Reasi. All these locations will reopen in a phased manner starting September 29. The Lieutenant Governor tweeted that the decision was made after a comprehensive review at a UHQ meeting with security agencies and district administrations.

Tourist spots were closed after the terrorist attack.

In recent months, tourism activities in these areas were suspended for security reasons following the Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 tourists. At that time, the administration launched the massive Operation Sindoor , which targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). In June, the administration began the process of reopening 16 tourist destinations, but some sensitive locations remained closed.

Boosting tourism and the local economy

The reopening of tourist destinations is expected to revitalize the local economy in the Kashmir and Jammu regions. Local businesses and the hotel and restaurant industry had been impacted by terrorist incidents and security restrictions. It is believed that this decision will not only provide relief to tourists but will also boost employment and income for local residents.
