Casualty star confirms romance with co-star after split from Call The Midwife actress

Casualty heartthrob Olly Rix has made his new romance with a co-star official - going public on Instagram months after his split from a Call The Midwife actress.

The 40 year old star, who portrays dashing surgeon Flynn Byron on the long-running BBC series, is dating Anna Chell, 28, who stars alongside him as nurse Jodie Whyte.

Olly made their relationship official by posting a series of romantic snapsfrom their summer adventures on Instagram - complete with sweet photos featuring his beloved pooch Nellie. He wrote alongside the images: "Summer with Anna and Nellie."

Supporters flocked to the comments to express their delight as the pair made things Instagram official. One gushed: "This is so cute, you are actually made for each other." Another commented: "My heart is so happy." A third wrote: "I never knew they were a couple how cute xx".

It was reported that they were an item after meeting on the set of the BBC medical drama. The actor had teased followers on social media with a picture of Anna on his Instagram stories - sparking speculation that the co-stars were romantically involved and growing closer.

In June, he posted a photo of them enjoying a day out together at a stonemason's workshop, trying their hand at masonry together.

Olly portrayed Matthew on Call the Midwife for three years, and The Sun exclusively reported last year that he was departing to join Casualty. He became part of the Saturday night drama last year following the conclusion of his short-lived romance with Helen George, 41, who also portrays a nurse, Trixie Franklin, on Call the Midwife.

It Not only did she portray the wife of Olly's character, businessman Matthew Aylward, but she also shared screen time with her real-life partner and father of her two children, Jack Ashton, 38, from whom she separated in 2023.

An insider revealed: "After finding himself uncomfortably thrust into the spotlight towards the end of his time on Call the Midwife, Olly's in a really good place at the moment."

Over the last year he's quickly settled into his new role on Casualty, found a new home in Cardiff where the drama is filmed, and is enjoying a blossoming romance with Anna.

"Devotees of the drama will no doubt be analysing their scenes together to see if there are tell-tale hints of chemistry between them - assuming they haven't already spotted signs."

Previously, Olly and Helen had been frequently pictured growing close this year as they both split from their respective real-life partners.

This followed four months after she announced her split from actor partner Jack Ashton, whom she met on the BBC show in 2014.

Around the same time, Olly ended his relationship with his makeup artist girlfriend Natasha Fagri, after seven years together. Their relationship came to an end in mid-2024. Sources suggested that the pair had "drifted apart," and Olly unfollowed Helen on Instagram.
