Westminster Bridge has been closed this morning following a mental health-related incident, with dramatic pictures capturing the empty Thames crossing point as rush hour sets in.
The bridge has been shut following a police incident, with images from the scene showing a cordon has been set up, behind which ambulances can be seen standing in the middle of the road. Bus routes which typically run through the area have been diverted this morning, with traffic scanners suggesting the road has been shut for at least three hours.
Police can be seen operating behind the cordon, with the London Metropolitan Police only confirming the incident was mental-health related, and that no injuries have been reported.

The bridge has closed in both directions between the A3211 Victoria Embankment and Lambeth Palace Road. But according to the AA's traffic monitoring tool, which mentions 12 bus routes have been diverted, traffic is "coping well" despite the ongoing incident.
The AA states: "Bridge closed due to police incident on A302 Westminster Bridge both ways between A3211 Victoria Embankment and Lambeth Palace Road. Traffic is coping well. Detour in operation - for 12 bus routes."
The Daily Mirror has contacted the London Ambulance Service for further information.
