Carpets play a key rolein making a home feel warm and inviting, so it is important to keep them clean and well cared for. A stained or dusty carpet can instantly ruin the appearance of a room. Carpet cleaning can be done at home or by a professional service, but regular maintenance is essential to keep it in good condition.
An expert from Dan Dan the Carpet Man shared a simple trick that can keep your carpets shiny and fresh, and it can easily be done. According to the experts, leaving the window open after cleaning the carpets will make the drying process faster and add some freshness to the newly cleaned carpet.
The experts shared: "Ultimately, opening the windows will indeed help reduce the drying time. That's because you will have fresh air moving through the room. Just make sure that you open one or two windows at the opposite ends of the room + get a breeze going and improve the airflow.
"Opening the windows can also help freshen up your carpets and reduce any smells from chemicals used in the cleaning process. It will help you clear up any musty smells that come with damp carpet fibers, and does wonders for clearing out dust too.
"Just make sure that you open one or two windows at the opposite ends of the room to get a breeze going and improve the airflow.
"Before you open up those windows, take a second to consider a few factors first. In some cases, it may be better to set up some fans or turn on the AC instead."
However, the expert also advised the property owners to make sure to check the weather before opening the windows. The expert explained that it is not ideal to open the windows when the weather is hot and humid. Homeowners can try and set up some fans to keep the air cool.
The expert explained: "While it can still be helpful for getting rid of the musty smell of drying carpet fibers, your carpet won't dry well if you don't have a great breeze and if it's too warm."
Apart from this, when the weather outside is damp, cold, or overly humid, opening windows won't help your carpet dry-it might even slow the process down. In these conditions, it's better to switch on the heating. Warm air helps moisture in the carpet evaporate faster, making drying more efficient.
Open your windows when the weather is mild and breezy - not too hot or cold - so your carpet can dry properly, the expert suggested.
