Dog owner shares day in life of 'spoiled golden retriever' and people have one question

Pets bring plenty of joy to their owners so it's not unusual for some to spoil them.

Dogs are the most popular choice of pet in the UK and they're known for their loyalty, companionship and protective instincts, often giving them the title of "man's best friend" so they stand out compared to some other animals. They often form strong bonds with their owners and show affection, which is returned by many dog parents.

The owner of a golden retriever named Zebby shared a video on TikTok giving viewers an insight into his day-to-day life - but they did notice one huge thing that was missing. Golden retrievers are medium to large dogs known for their golden coats and they have high energy levels so they make great pets for active families, according to PDSA, the UK's leading veterinary charity.

The TikTok clip starts with Zebby waking up at 10am before having breakfast and brushing his teeth half an hour later and he even holds his double-ended toothbrush himself in his mouth. He goes out for a walk at 12pm wearing a hat to "look cute" and playtime is at 4pm when he plays in the park with a tennis ball.

Next, the golden retriever comes home by 4.30pm for some "drool and chill" time to rest after spending a few hours outside. Zebby heads back out in the evening and enjoys "golden hour" at a sandy beach at 7.30pm before returning home to relax and "be smooshy."

The pooch's day ends at 9pm and he can be seen in the short clip laying on a bed with his head on the pillow looking tired after his 'long and busy day.' Zebby has amassed 220,000 followers and 23.2 million likes on TikTok overall so he has received significant attention on the platform.

This particular post alone has racked up one million views, more than 100,000 likes and hundreds of comments. The caption reads: "Day in the life of a spoiled golden retriever."

Viewers enjoyed seeing what the dog gets up to on a typical day but were left with one big question. A user asked: "No meal? Is he on a diet?"

The video doesn't show Zebby's meal times or what he eats. His owner responded to this comment with a joke: "He's working on his summer bod."

This led to further remarks, such as "drop the ab routine stat" and "that's too funny." The TikTok post has garnered comments from companies, as well as regular users.

British haircare brand John Frieda wondered: "Who is this ICON?" Greenies, which sells doggy dental treats, said: "Serving clean teeth and main character energy."

Wellness Pet Food commented: "Hard day at work." Another viewer exclaimed: "This golden retriever is living the dream!

"Such a spoiled and adorable pup, love watching these moments!" Someone else chimed in: "Might be one of the best golden retrievers out there."
