Former EastEnders actress Shona McGarty has posted a mysterious message on social media ahead of her appearance in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
The star, who recently ended her engagement to David Bracken, seems to be taking some time for introspection before she flies off to Australia.
The 34 year old shared a monochrome video on her Instagram, showing herself applying and then removing her makeup in a silent yet expressive performance, before the clip transitions to colour. Alongside the video, Shona included a lengthy caption featuring lyrics from her new song Unapologetically Me.
She penned, "I'm finally learning to just be me, no filters, no apologies, no shrinking to make others comfortable. It's a new beginning, and this time I'm stepping into life with open arms and an open heart. I've spent too long second-guessing, dimming my light, trying to fit into spaces that were never meant for me.
"But now, it's about freedom, being comfortable in my own skin, owning my story, singing LOUD, with all my flaws, and my fire. This is the start of really living, fully and authentically. From here on out, ...I'm .. 'unapologetically me'.", reports the Mirror.
Shona is among the celebrities rumoured to be jetting off to Australia for the upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here. Shona, famed for her role as Whitney Dean in EastEnders, has reportedly ended her engagement to David after a year. The couple got engaged in the summer of 2024 but have now seemingly called it quits.
An insider revealed to The Sun, "They are on amicable terms, but have ended their romantic relationship. There are no hard feelings, they realised they wanted different things and are better off as friends. Shona is now focusing on her music and career."
The duo first crossed paths on TikTok just over two years ago, and David, who is renowned as a member of Blessed, proposed during a romantic picnic in Kensington, West London. However, the proposal almost didn't go as planned when the police showed up.
David recalled: "I went over to the police, who said, 'Sorry we are just closing up the park'. I said, 'Would you mind giving me five minutes as I am about to propose to my partner?'".
"He looked at his watch and said, 'Of course, and best of luck!'' So, I told Shona to go stand at the waterfall in the park. I then put on our favourite song and had a dance with her before getting down on one knee."
Shona admitted that she was oblivious to how David's proposal was nearly thwarted at the last moment. She confessed: "David went over to speak to them and I had no idea what he said because I was just eating cheese and crackers."
In an exclusive joint interview with OK! Magazine, Shona and David revealed their engagement, stating that the proposal's location added to its significance.
David chose a serene spot in the park known as Kyoto Garden - a place of great importance to Shona. She elaborated: "I love Japanese culture and the spirituality of it. He brought a picnic which was really sweet. It was lovely, I was in my element but I didn't think he was going to propose at all."
