Tom Kerridge has urged people to be "conscious" and avoid a common habit when they cook their next barbecue, as it can affect the food. The Michelin-starred chef is a big fan of BBQs and previously shared a tip to ensure burgers stay juicy.
But, in a recent interview, he warned people are making a common mistake when cooking meat that is altering its taste for the worst. He explained people should avoid temptation and not constantly mvoe or flip the meat as it can affect the cooking.
Speaking to the Great British Life, he said: "You've got to be very conscious of the heat source and where it's coming and how hot it is. "There's nothing wrong with leaving something on there, let it get that colour, let it get that texture, let it get that flavour - that comes from letting things stand still."
It comes after Tom appeared on a recent episode of the podcast Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? where he spoke to host Tim Lihoreau about barbecues. He noted that the use of "really good outdoor kit" had become "massive" over the last decade.
During the chat, Tom lauded egg barbecues (a type of ceramic-coated barbecue that draws its name from its distinctive egg shape), dubbing them both "amazing" and claiming they "cook beautifully". He explained that they're operated like a convection oven, but everyone is "scared of them".
However, the 'Proper Pub Food' star thinks they're simple to use with a "bit of practice". Tom also thinks we "don't need that kit", and a decent barbecue is a matter of understanding "great ingredients", specifically highlighting dry rub marinades and simple salads.
It wouldn't be the first time that the celebrity chef has shared his barbecue pearls of wisdom with the public. In May, he opened up about the importance of selecting the right charcoal.
He stressed that it's better to have larger pieces as they hold the temperature for longer, pointing out that the smaller offerings "burn out quicker".

In April, the chef was left gobsmacked after he learned about Jordan North's condiment preferences. His comments came during an episode of the Proper Tasty podcast with Chris Stark.
Jordan, known for presenting Capital Breakfast, revealed that he enjoys pairing mint sauce with what Tom believes are the wrong meats, although he identified it as the typical accompaniment for lamb.
Tom replied: "If you're going to tell me you're gonna do mint sauce with chicken, mate, you are a wrong'un." However, his fellow podcast stars went on to admit that they use it for other meats too.
Chris admitted that he adds it to "anything", while Jordan confessed he puts it on "any roast dinner", prompting Tom to add: "You can't put mint sauce with a chicken; what's wrong with you?"
You can next catch the chef on Tom Kerridge Cooks Spain on ITV on Thursday, August 21, from 8:30 pm to 9 pm.
