Donald Trump said he "feels very badly" about the Israeli strike on Doha, which he said the US was too slow to stop. The US president wrote on Truth Social: "I immediately directed Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to inform the Qataris of the impending attack, which he did, however, unfortunately, too late to stop the attack. I view Qatar as a strong Ally and friend of the U.S., and feel very badly about the location of the attack."
Israel launched the "precise strike targeting the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organisation" in the Qatari capital earlier today. The military said: "Prior to the strike, measures were taken in order to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and additional intelligence." Several blasts were heard in the city, witnesses told Reuters, and smoke was reportedly seen rising over the Katara District.
